Dan Helland has been privileged to be a Professional Photographer all of
his adult life.
This year marks a milestone for him in an exciting career that began in 1956, when he first studied and practiced the art / science of photography while
on duty with the U.S.Navy.
After those early years, while he and his wife, Connie, were raising their family
of four children in Green Bay, Wisconsin, his subsequent home for the next twenty-six years, he continued in the "usual" photo studio business, as most people know it. It was during this time that he created "LAMBEAU FIELD, 1961"
Portraits, Weddings, Family Groups and High School Seniors were mixed in with assorted Commercial and Industrial assignments, in factories and on advertising location shoots. Years later, after gaining the opportunity to photograph over 275 star-studded performances at the 1,000 seat Carlton West Dinner Theater in Green Bay, he began specializing in Theatrical and Performance Photography, and was honored to work with many of the most talented, world-famous performers of the 20th century.
This, in turn, led him to re-locate to Nashville, Tennessee. where he has spent
the last 25-plus years within the country music industry, working closely with the famous, the near-famous, and the wanna-be famous.

Now, recently retired after those 50 interesting, exciting and fulfilling years behind the lens, his phone still continues to ring, and he has the enviable
option of being able to select when and where to accept an occasional assignment that interests him.
But, more important over those many years, is the fact that he's managed to
create and maintain an impressive negative file that's both as surprising and
as widely varied as you can possibly imagine.
